Zane Irwin is a multimedia reporter based in Philadelphia.
Originally from Kansas City, he attended Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, graduating with High Honors in Political Science and French.
After interning with WHYY, Philadelphia's NPR affiliate station, Zane is pitching stories in all formats about whatever interests him (politics, immigration, climate, media, and so much more).
Zane spent last summer in Dakar, Senegal, reporting on West and Central Africa as an Overseas Press Club fellow with the Associated Press. He wrote features and covered breaking news while the region experienced electoral drama, spiraling armed conflict, and multiple coup d'états.
As a Pulitzer Center reporting fellow in Cameroon, Zane worked in text, photo, and video formats to investigate the role of online disinformation in an oft-overlooked civil war.
In the course of his journalism, Zane has spoken with social media warlords, state secretaries, city council members, and the lawyer who represented Julian Assange. His work has been published to global audiences with the AP, African Arguments, the Pulitzer Center, WHYY, and several local publications.
